Sickle moon tan renga
red mark
on her coffee cup
deepening silence
nothing we talked about
but the sickle moon
in the round
ascending tones of
angelic voices
bamboo leaves shake
and bend the sunlight
a sudden gust of wind
brings the rain to land
a kiss of longing
in the shiver on my hand
the shake of our hands
running and laughing
kiddies play hide and seek
amber evening
I am the clouds
chasing sunset

Three tanka
1/
sleeps too deep
or so it seems to me
roadside mimosa
her diamond earrings glisten
with the first light
2/
the scent of cut hay
from the harvested field
you shall set it free
once you said about my dream
that sleeps in a heap of grass
3/
we lose them
one after another
after certain age*
will you catch me
when i'm a falling petal
*Inspired by Murakami's 1Q84

A rosebud and singing cicadas tanka
1/
a rosebud in my garden
too lovely to overlook
behind this window
i welcome the morning light
as if the blooming last forever
2/
perpetual echo
of your voice in my ear
you against me
over the reason to love
cicadas singing in the trees
a rosebud in my garden
too lovely to overlook
behind this window
i welcome the morning light
as if the blooming last forever

A branch tanka
a branch
bathed in light
where the raven was--
holding onto my desire
to paint with colors

Traffic light haiku quartet
1/
green light--
a glimpse of a little girl
holding her tambourine
2/
green light--
fading reverb of her
tambourine
3/
at the traffic light
discerning the sound of
different colors
4/
busy junction
her tambourine glistens with
unknown song

Satori; Chapter 20, haibun*
Men are fools, Solange thought as she left the house in Tokyo.
A few tears, a sparkle of en eye, the twitch of a hip, and their brains are as easily turned off like an electrical switch.
Haverford was smarter than most, just as blind.
Like the rest, he sees what he wants to see and nothing more.
Nicholai, on the other hand..
Dommage.
What a shame.
lanterns in the breeze
in her mind, darkness and light
darkness and light
*The prose excerpted from Don Winslow's Satori, Grand Central Publishing, June 2011

No more denial tanka
too long
i've been running away
now no more denial
i surrender to
the morning light
terlalu lama
mencoba menjauh
tak lagi membantah
kini aku takluk
pada kilau fajar
i've been running away
now no more denial
i surrender to
the morning light

mencoba menjauh
tak lagi membantah
kini aku takluk

Owl's cry haiku
owl's cry
dims the candle light
in a black out
nyanyian burung hantu
meredupkan nyala lilin
saat mati lampu

in a black out
nyanyian burung hantu
meredupkan nyala lilin
saat mati lampu
