Christmas in Pullman haiku

christmas eve
pine trees losing snow

Winter seems to come early in Pullman, Washington. My friend Liana Munir wrote that grasses were covered by ice weeks before winter. And when it comes, the street was deep under tons of snow. But, "It's an obvious impact of climate change," Lia says, pointing finger at the rising temperature in Pullman that drives away the snow. It melts very quickly, and people put off their fury coat, changed them into sweater and lighter clothing.

This is a haiku for Liana Munir.

Liana Munir's tanka

she pulls down
her turtle neck, and
inhales deeply
holding early winter inside
but the snow gone too fast

Too many typos tanka

a love letter
with too many typos
still i feel
the warmth of your touch
and blushing cheek

Nightfall tanka

stand in the open
watching my shadow
darkens and fades
chases the image of you
after the nightfall

Glimpse of your smile tanka

memorizing you
i catch a glimpse of your smile
but your shadow
twice as dark
in my daydreams
