empty head...
the sickle moon
dives deeper

Hardly breathing tanka

hardly breathing in
this sultry April evening
deeper and deeper
the scar i tried to hide
carved on my heart of stone

shaking she-oak..
the way she tightens the straps
of her bikini

wave-washed sand castle--
the fading warmth of
your laughter

i know, dear
you were stars last night
pebbles on the beach

barefooted--
knowing why the left
deeper in the sand

Visiting dad tanka

visiting my dad
at his grave
it's deep enough
the hole I dug
to plant the rose
